Oh, not so many boxes...

Hi all, If you check my blog regularly you know that I haven't posted a new review recently. Well that's because my mom has told me that I really need to cut back on all of my subscriptions. Hopefully I'll get a job and be able to start reviewing again next fall. Until then I will only be posting 5 box reviews a month, because that's how many fit in my budget. So do check back and there will be more post about anecdotes from my life. Kaiya

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

I don't believe that age and wisdom are dependent. I just think that it is the experience and the knowledge you ascertain over time. So here is a quote of my own design. This one is just about how a lot of the time people are afraid to take risk because they are afraid of failing and how life isn't about failing its about taking that chance in the first place.

Life is not about the mistakes you make, but the chances you take.

Late Night with Seth Meyers Inaugral Episode!

So tonight was the inaugural episode of Late Night with Steph Meyers. I had high hopes for this show, so much so that I actually sat in front of a TV for an hour. Which was a strange experience because I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a tv show thow that I didn't fast forward through.

I wasn't sure about the 5 minute monologue about current facts, but after that it really started to pick up. I am a huge Parks & Rec fan, so I was thrilled to see Amy Poehler and she was as amazing as expected. Vice President  Joe Biden also made an appearance and I must say who knew he had such a great sense  of humor?

Musical guest a great big world was great. Love them! Personally I love the song say something without Christina Aguilera.

My only critcism is that the first few segments didn't flow well, it felt as if all the segments ran too long. Maybe it was just the manner they were presented, but needs work. All in all it was a great start and it leaves me wanting more and I'm looking forward to see how Seth Meyers fills in the shoes of Jimmy Fallon.

What do you think of Late Night with Seth Meyers?

FML

There is this id card, that my life depends on. Okay maybe not my life, but definitely my happiness. Every student is issued a "comet" card, our mascot is a comet, hence the name cute right? But the stress this causes me on a day to day basis is not cute. I need this card to eat, get into my dorm after night, get into my room, to take test, go to the gym, check out a library book, and a gazillion other things that I have yet to find out.

So, you can imagine how badly my life can get when I forget this in my room. There are two ways to solve this problem:
1. My roomates
-I have 2, so twice the chance that one will be available, but they usually happen to have classes at times during the day when I forget my card,so I end up waiting for them. If its at night my roommate L, is usually always in the room.
2. Front Desk
-When option 1 fails I have the front desk of my dorm, where they have a Peer Adviser (PA) on call. This used to be my option 1,since it was quicker, until I had to start signing an index card saying I was locked out. After the first three I had to talk with the head of my dorm about why this was happening. You would think that after that it would compel me to never forget my comet card again. WRONG! It happened two more times after that and the guy at the desk said and I quote, "Wow this is the most lock outs I've ever seen," he preceded to call over the closet PA to recount this to them. So after that option 2 became my option 1, even though it usually leads me waiting in my hall for an hour.

Today wasn't too bad I just had to wait about 1 hour. The worst was I had to wait 2.5 hours and I missed diner. Why you might ask don't I just go down to the front desk? Well, because its embarrassing, while others just say I have too much pride. Maybe its a combination of both?

Sunday Funday

I love my Sundays its the one day a week where I actually feel productive. I clean my room, do laundry, and do homework, and binge watch Netflix. Its almost like its the day before a big exam and I finally feel pressured to study for it. I'm a big procrastinator and Sunday is the day where I can escape from procrastination station.

Top 5 Reasons I love Sunday
5. I feel pressured to do stuff
4. I actually clean my room
3. Netflix
2. My free time is my time
1. I don't have class

Why do you love Sunday's?

Letters to Saturday

Dear Saturdays,

Oh how I hate you.

Why do I hate you, you  the one day in the week where I have to do nothing? Well its because I have no car and there is absolutely nothing to do on campus on the weekends. I was expecting college to be this big fun, no stop, world of always having something to do.But that my friend if a lie, well at least here at UT Dallas it is.

To me Saturday, you are nothing but time spent in my room searching the web or cleaning. No classes to go to. No work to be pressured into doing. No friends who are awake before 5. No where to go.

You Saturday are just a day to bid my time. To do all those lazy things without worrying about that I should be using my time more effectively. I used to love you Saturday, but now I dread whenever you roll around. College has changed many things for me,but I wish that what you  meant to me Saturday wasn't one of those

Un-sincerely,

Kaiya

Oh, What is this White Fluffy Stuff Falling from the Sky?

Yesterday it snowed!!! I'm from South Texas,so never in my life have I seen actual snow that covers the ground. I really wanted to go to school up north to have a real winter, but I didn't make it further than Dallas. I never expected that I would see snow here, but I did and it was wonderful. It was amazing to see little white flurries fall from the sky around me.

Monday Musings

I thought that since, I'm new to the blog world that it would be a neat idea to do an update every now and then about my life.

1.Today began my third week of school can't believe its been that long, at times it feels like I just got back.

2. I'm a freshman,so I'm still trying to figure out what organizations or friends are right from me.

3. Today I skyped with my mom for the first time and it was great. Yes, I am in that small subset of eighteen year olds who actually enjoy spending their free time with their mom. Since, my whole personal space is confined to a 10x10 block I have half of my subscription boxes sent home. I go home every month,so don't worry reviews for those boxes won't be too far away.

4. I'm currently have 4 books checked out of the library and I've only began to start one. Which is Malcolm Gladwell's David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants. I am a huge fan of Malcolm Gladwell and reading one of his books always feels like I'm getting a way with something, because his books are not only a pleasure to read, but also informative.

A Little About Me...

Hi!

Thank you for visiting Oh My Boxes and Books...

I'm a college student who, is double majoring in Economics and Finance, somehow manages to find time to read and discover new subscription boxes. I have read over a thousand books in my 18 years of life, but I often find myself forgetting whether or not I liked a book,so I figured it was about time to chronicle my opinions on books and thought I might as well help others figure out what books are a hit or a miss.

I recently found subscription boxes and am a permanent subscriber to 5 subscription boxes and I try a new box every month. Finding the right subscription box is trial and error and I hope I can help you maximize the trial and minimize the error. I Love getting a gift to myself in the mail and I hope soon you will to.
