We Were Liars Book Review

We Were Liars

5 stars

A beautiful and distinguished family.
A private island.
A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy.
A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive.
A revolution. An accident. A secret.
Lies upon lies.
True love.
The truth.

So, I just finished We Were Liars by one of my favorite authors who doesn't come out with books often enough for my liking E. Lockhartn and it put me in a raw place. Its been a while since I've read one of her books and I forgot one important thing. Though she finishes a book with a resolution, it still leaves you with the realization that the main characters life will still go on after the pages are done. Its like watching a movie and though it's done and has a conclusion you think there must be a sequel except there is none and never will be.

This book starts the same as it ends. That should tell you a lot about this story it should tell you that there is something not quite right. This story brings to mind something we learned  in high school about an unreliable narrator. Cadence the narrator of story screams unreliable she may or not be addicted to medication and has no memory of Summer Fifteen. She is the definition of unreliable yet she is so endearing and real that you can't help, but feel that what you read is true and that is the beauty of E. Lockhart's writing. Often you read a teen fiction novel and the main character feels so one dimensional and not real Cadence was not this character.

I'm not going to tell you too much about this book just know it put me in a raw place and I cried. That you should read it and convince everyone you know to read it just tell them its about a girl and the summer's she spends on her families island. And if they ask you how it ends just LIE.

Preorder Memebox 11 to 16!

I love and hate the Memebox purchasing model. So basically it works like this if you aren't familiar with Memebox. Its a Korean brand. Usually it takes 17-24 days to ship and you pre-order about 3 months before it ships.

So you can end up buying the box for May in February even though you have yet to even receive a box yet. For example I pre-ordered 8 to 10 back in February, but I won't be receiving 8 till April, since it takes so long to ship. Regardless I'm still going to pre-order 11 to 13 because Memebox has proven to be a great deal and I love being exposed to products I wouldn't normally.

MEMEBOX

The original Memebox comes packed with 4 - 8 full sized products and deluxe samples, carefully curated from Korea to give you the best experience and widest exposure to a range of products.Boxes in each Memebox series always contain the same products, and contents vary from hair and body products, to skin-care and cosmetics.

11 to 13 cost $75.99 save 15%
11 to 16 cost $144.99 save 20%

Memebox #11: May 24th
Memebox #12: June 24th
Memebox #13: July 24th
Memebox #14: August 24th
Memebox #15: September 24th
Memebox #16: October 24th

The Bachelor

So I'm sure as you all know the bachelor came to a close last night. I don't particular like the bachelor I'm more of a the bachelorette fan. I think its because I see the bachelorette as one nice, beautiful woman's search to find true love in the arms of a really hot guy. While the bachelor is one hot, okayish, guy looking to hook up with as many beautiful woman as he can and if he happens to find love along the way great. So I'll admit it I'm biased, but as a girl I reserve the right to be so. I was honestly happy when I found out Juan Pablo was going to be the bachelor, but I never expected him to wind up being such a douchenozzle. He was like soooo perfect on the bachelorette. I guess being surrounded by 27 beautiful woman and getting paid a quarter of a million to do so can really inflate an ego and bring out someones true personality. Anyways I will end up watching the bachelorette with Andi Dorfman even though I didn't really watch the bachelor. They usually get the bachelorette right, but they almost always get the bachelor wrong.

Oh, not so many boxes...

Hi all, If you check my blog regularly you know that I haven't posted a new review recently. Well that's because my mom has told me that I really need to cut back on all of my subscriptions. Hopefully I'll get a job and be able to start reviewing again next fall. Until then I will only be posting 5 box reviews a month, because that's how many fit in my budget. So do check back and there will be more post about anecdotes from my life. Kaiya

PMS.com Review

PMS.com is shipped by USPS. It took about 5 days to get to me and comes in a white box and red fairy which kind of does make me think of my "time of the month".
First Look
At first look it doesn't look that special. Just three red and white items
Un-boxing
What's inside?
~Ibuprofen
~15 tampons
~15 wipes
Smooth Slidey Tampons
That is actually the name of these tampons on their website. These don't
have a brand they just say regular on theme. The quality is better than I expected made out of plastic.

PMS Pain Relief
I actually have a condition where I can't take any NSAIDs, so I can only use things like Tylenol and my cramps are never really that bad. So not using this hopefully one of my friends will want it. Also you can find these at walgreens.
Tutu Towels
I don't use wipes, so this won't be used.

Decree: Nothings special about this subscription Its just generic no name items with the PMS label on them. What is up with that? Are they trying to start there own feminine sanitation company or something? If I do join a subscription its going to be one that doesn't send out the same products every month. One that adds special things like chocolate or tea. I and like every other female over the age of 16 can go out and buy their own feminine care products,so there is no reason for me or anyone else to sign up for PMS.com

Want to try a worthwhile time of the month subscription?
Try these:
Bojour Jolie $16
My Cotton Bunny  $16
Madame Lady Bug $18-$35
Le Parcel $15

Words of Wisdom Wednesday

I don't believe that age and wisdom are dependent. I just think that it is the experience and the knowledge you ascertain over time. So here is a quote of my own design. This one is just about how a lot of the time people are afraid to take risk because they are afraid of failing and how life isn't about failing its about taking that chance in the first place.

Life is not about the mistakes you make, but the chances you take.

Late Night with Seth Meyers Inaugral Episode!

So tonight was the inaugural episode of Late Night with Steph Meyers. I had high hopes for this show, so much so that I actually sat in front of a TV for an hour. Which was a strange experience because I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a tv show thow that I didn't fast forward through.

I wasn't sure about the 5 minute monologue about current facts, but after that it really started to pick up. I am a huge Parks & Rec fan, so I was thrilled to see Amy Poehler and she was as amazing as expected. Vice President  Joe Biden also made an appearance and I must say who knew he had such a great sense  of humor?

Musical guest a great big world was great. Love them! Personally I love the song say something without Christina Aguilera.

My only critcism is that the first few segments didn't flow well, it felt as if all the segments ran too long. Maybe it was just the manner they were presented, but needs work. All in all it was a great start and it leaves me wanting more and I'm looking forward to see how Seth Meyers fills in the shoes of Jimmy Fallon.

What do you think of Late Night with Seth Meyers?

FML

There is this id card, that my life depends on. Okay maybe not my life, but definitely my happiness. Every student is issued a "comet" card, our mascot is a comet, hence the name cute right? But the stress this causes me on a day to day basis is not cute. I need this card to eat, get into my dorm after night, get into my room, to take test, go to the gym, check out a library book, and a gazillion other things that I have yet to find out.

So, you can imagine how badly my life can get when I forget this in my room. There are two ways to solve this problem:
1. My roomates
-I have 2, so twice the chance that one will be available, but they usually happen to have classes at times during the day when I forget my card,so I end up waiting for them. If its at night my roommate L, is usually always in the room.
2. Front Desk
-When option 1 fails I have the front desk of my dorm, where they have a Peer Adviser (PA) on call. This used to be my option 1,since it was quicker, until I had to start signing an index card saying I was locked out. After the first three I had to talk with the head of my dorm about why this was happening. You would think that after that it would compel me to never forget my comet card again. WRONG! It happened two more times after that and the guy at the desk said and I quote, "Wow this is the most lock outs I've ever seen," he preceded to call over the closet PA to recount this to them. So after that option 2 became my option 1, even though it usually leads me waiting in my hall for an hour.

Today wasn't too bad I just had to wait about 1 hour. The worst was I had to wait 2.5 hours and I missed diner. Why you might ask don't I just go down to the front desk? Well, because its embarrassing, while others just say I have too much pride. Maybe its a combination of both?
